This classic Playboy Pinball Machine was released by Bally Pinball Manufacturing in 1978 and is considered one of the most iconic pinball machines of all time. Playboy features a drop target bank, 3 pop bumper, rollover lanes, stand up targets and the Grotto shot that if you can turn off all 5 Playboy Keys will award a 25,000 point bonus. Playboy is one of Bally's early electronic pinball machines with those early electronic sound effects.
CONDITION:
We acquired this machine from a local pinball collector that had this machine restored a few years back. During that restoration he had the entire cabinet sanded and repainted by Pinball Restorations out of California. The game was properly color matched and looks amazing. New coin door skin, along with new foil Bally logo decal. All exterior metal has been buffed and polished. Backglass is original, but does have a few flaws primarily some scratches over Granny Fanny on the far left side and some flaking artwork along to top left edge. A Reproduction backglass is available but the majority of the original glass is flawless. In our opinion the repro backglass is a suitable replacement if your original is too far gone, but the reproduction backglasses tended to look wash out and the colors are never as vibrant as an original. We prefer to leave the original glass in this game as Heff and the ladies look amazing. The playfield on this game has had a playfield overlay installed. The overlay looks outstanding and is a way to breathe new life in a worn out playfield. Unfortunately there is some wrinkling under a few of the posts, but these in no way effect game play, it's more of a cosmetic issue more than anything, but should be noted to any potential buyer. In addition the game was completely gone through and overhauled mechanically. Pop bumpers were rebuilt with new skirts, bodies and pop bumper caps, new drop targets, new flipper bats and the game was upgraded to LED lighting.
In addition this game has been upgraded with a new Altek Ultimate MPU board which is a vast improvement over the original -35 MPU board, no more leaky NiCad battery as the Altek Ultimate MPU board uses a memory backup capacitor that will never leak. Playboy has a new Power Supply (Rectifier Board) and the Original Lamp Driver Board has been upgraded so that it is compatible with LED lights.
Since taken into our possession we have removed all components from the top side of the playfield and cleaned and polished the playing surface and installed new rubber rings throughout.
