This classic FRIENDSHIP "7" Williams Reverse Wedgehead Pinball is a relatively low production game that was released in 1962 with a total production run of only 800 units. Friendship 7' was the name of the space capsule that American astronaut John Glenn piloted into space and around the earth in 1962.

Pinball History 101:
Pinball machines have had a tarnished past often considered gambling machines by giving players the ability to win credits "replays" by achieving certain scores or features on the game. Vintage pinball machines that award credits are referred to as "replay" machines.

To counter-measure the gambling stigma of pinball, manufactures developed pinball machines known as "add-a-ball" machines. These machine instead of awarding replay credits, awarded additional extra balls to play. Add-A-Ball Pinball Machines have become some of the most desired collectible pinball machines as it gives the player the ability to play a longer game based off their skill level by winning extra balls. Historically there were not as many Add-A-Ball pinball machines produced which further adds to their collectability amongst pinball aficionados.

The object of the game is simple but hard to master. Hitting various targets and rollovers on the playfield will light random F R I E N D S H I P letters. If one is lit at the same time matching the center wheel, the center target will light awarding an extra ball if you can time it just right.

We acquired this machine from a local home owner where it sat dormant for years. It has now completed our thorough refurbishment process. The backglass on this machine is original, and although presents very well it does have a small amount of flaking and cracking in the silkscreened artwork. We preferred to leave the original backglass on this machine as it just enhances its vintage patina.  Brand new reproduction plastics have been installed compliments of the Shay Arcade Group.  We have shopped out the playfield by giving it a good cleaning and polishing. All new rubber rings & ball installed as well as new instruction and pricing card. In addition new daisy pop bumper caps have been installed along with new pop bumper skirts. Original playfield does show a little wear most specifically around the pop bumpers but that's to be expected on a game that is now over 60 years old!  Original pot metal lockbar end caps do show some wear. We have polished all other exterior metal and brand new chrome legs, leg levelers and leg bolts have been installed.

Add-A-Ball Pinball Machines do not have a replay unit, nor do they have a start button. Games are started by inserting a coin in the coin slot. However this game is missing the dime coin mech. Our solution was that we discretely added a "credit" button to the bottom of the cabinet. Simply push the button and it will start a game.

PLEASE NOTE: FRIENDSHIP "7" works great! We encourage any prospective buyer to please visit our store and see and play this game in person. However often times, electro-mechanical machines need to be adjusted after transport due to their age and nature. With that being said, no warranty is offered with this machine and it is sold "as-is".
